The Learning Box offers high quality, engaging, child-specific literacy support in the form of 1:1 tutoring and small group workshops that focus on different areas of the English curriculum, developing a range of key skills needed to succeed in literacy across primary school and beyond.

Find Your Words

KS1 / /KS2 / KS3

Our Find Your Words writing workshops are the perfect opportunity for your child to immerse themselves in the magic of the written word - exploring genres and experimenting with different text types whilst igniting an enjoyment and passion for all sorts of different writing; creating a solid foundation to develop successful writers in the future.

Suitable for all levels and abilities in storytelling, Find Your Words guides your child through their first steps as writers and readers, supported by a multitude of resources, and a process of continuous discussion, reflection and improving.

Our Find Your Words Workshops run during term time in the form of 1:1 and small group sessions with children, as well as in the holidays, where workshops range in days depending on the length of holidays, each one offering bespoke and structured year group appropriate support for primary school children.

Star Club

Years 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6

Our Star Club Mini Classes have revolutionised “English tutoring”, in the form of purposeful and engaging Mini Classes to consolidate your child’s English learning and build confidence alongside high quality teachers in small groups.

Each week, children move through a sequence of purposeful, challenging and engaging English tasks to support their English learning. All booklets are tailored to the year groups, and will differ depending on the times of year and what the national curriculum objectives are.

The workshops focus on a range of English skills, including comprehension, grammar and spelling, writing, verbal reasoning, 10+ and 11+ exam preparation and reading skills.

How does Star Club work?

Each workshop spans the course of a half term. Children will be with the same small group each week with a 40 minute Zoom session each week and then access to our Online Literacy Hub, which they will complete a writing task linked to the skill they have learnt that week.

At the end of the workshop, children will receive a report which outlines what has been learnt, what their particular behaviours for learning are and their strengths and weaknesses. This provides parents with an insight into areas they might like to develop further.

Spaces for the following half terms workshops are released in stages: firstly to parents who already have a space in a group, then to parents who have expressed interest but did not get a space initially, and finally to the rest of the public.

Our mini classes involve a range of fun and focused English activities to broaden and deepen children’s learning and prepare them for year 6 and beyond..

We are very happy to see the spaces being nabbed quickly, so if you are interested in what we have to offer then please do let us know so we can add your name onto the early bird list!
